Ocean cleanup in our backyard

We heard from Neve, a very well-spoken 13 year old who started her own environmental charity and has a bold and important first project. Sumi Saves Wildlife is Neve’s charity, named for her adorable dog.

Sea Bins are shipping containers with simple pumps and filters that can be installed in marinas to clean the harbour and ocean. Each sea bin costs $7000.

Currently, through only seeking funds through family and friends, SSW have $1500 to out towards a Sea Bin, and is in talks with marinas between Squamish and Vancouver to find a compatible and willing site.

This Sea Bin would be the first in BC, and there’s are currently 719 worldwide. They are made in UK, and there are now some available locally.
